Small enough to care, experienced enough to be trusted with the hard parts.
We work with founders and small businesses who need their first proper system, and with established international organisations who need senior hands on a specific problem. The engineering standard is the same for both.
Who we work with
The kinds of business we are useful to
Not a sector specialism so much as a pattern: organisations where software has to do real work, and where getting it wrong is expensive.
-
Retail & e-commerce
Brands selling direct, from a first store to a multi-region operation. Catalogue, checkout, fulfilment and the reporting that tells you which of it is working.
-
Logistics & fulfilment
Operations businesses where software and physical movement have to agree with each other, and where a discrepancy costs real money.
-
B2B & professional services
Firms whose competitive advantage is a process, and who need that process in software rather than in a spreadsheet and one person's head.
-
Founders & small teams
Businesses building their first proper system, who need it done right the first time because there is no budget to do it twice.
-
A store that stopped needing a spreadsheet to run
The problem
A growing brand was taking orders online and managing stock, pricing and fulfilment in a set of shared spreadsheets. Peak trading meant overselling, and nobody could say with confidence what was actually available.
What we built
A storefront rebuild with stock and pricing held in one place, automated order routing, and an operations dashboard that replaced the spreadsheets. The awkward cases — partial shipments, cancellations, returns — were designed in from the start.
Where it landed
Overselling became a handled condition rather than an apology, and the operations team got their mornings back.
-
The spreadsheet that had quietly become critical
The problem
A firm's entire client onboarding and approval process lived in a workbook that one person maintained. It worked, until it did not scale and could not be audited.
What we built
A custom application built around the existing process rather than a reimagined one, delivered in small increments so the team could keep working throughout. Roles, audit trail and reporting came as part of it.
Where it landed
The process survived a growth phase without adding administrative headcount, and became auditable for the first time.
-
Senior capacity, dropped into an existing team
The problem
An in-house team had more committed roadmap than engineers, and a hiring cycle that would not close the gap in time.
What we built
Two of our engineers embedded in their team — their board, their standards, their code review — working the same backlog rather than a carved-out side project.
Where it landed
The roadmap was delivered on the original date, and their team kept ownership of everything that was built.
-
An ageing application moved without a big bang
The problem
A decade-old application still ran ordering and pricing. It could not be replaced in one release, and it could not stay on an unsupported stack either.
What we built
A strangler-fig migration: a light routing layer in front, modules lifted into a modern framework one at a time behind it, the legacy application still serving everything not yet moved. Each step was reversible.
Where it landed
The business kept trading throughout, and the team could point at a shrinking legacy footprint instead of a deadline.
What it is like
How we prefer to work with you
-
One team, one board
Your people and ours in the same stand-up, on the same board. We have not found a way of running software work across a wall that does not cost more than it saves.
-
Honest sizing
We would rather lose a proposal than win it on a number we do not believe. If we cannot size something confidently, we say so and propose the smallest piece of work that would settle it.
-
Built for your time zone
We overlap comfortably with European mornings and Asia-Pacific afternoons, and hold a fixed overlap window for North American clients. Being remote is not an excuse for being hard to reach.
-
Your repository, your cloud
Code lives in your organisation and runs in your account from the first commit. No handover cliff, and no leverage held over you at renewal.
